You are fired Flabby !!!

Wassup Gente, I came across this article and I couldn’t stop laughing, a sad laugh of course, to see to what extremes societies are trying to do something to combat the overweight Epidemy.

We got involved in this project not only to promote changes in our habits but also to keep each other accountable for our efforts and not regress into our comfort zone.

Wouldn’t be great to have that kind of accountability at work every time we reach for a snack or some extra cup of coffee?

Well as usual, Japanese are a step ahead of us and are implementing a radical approach to keep people accountable for monitoring their weight.

According to British newspaper The Guardian corporations in Japan will be penalized for failing to keep weight control for employees over 40 years old. According to this article they will have to take a mandatory “flab checks” next month and “men with girths of more than 85cm (33.5in) will be given exercise and diet plans and, in urgent cases, told to see a doctor”.

Can you imagine if we were to take these extremes here in America? If you look around your workplace, how many would qualify for a medical leave of absence? I know I would for sure! lol Do we need to get to this extremes to get serious about our OWN health?

This article is both sad and hilarious and I can’t help feeling sorry for people in Japan who will have to go through this process I’m sure it’s going to be humiliating for some people.

I’ve said it before and I’d say it again… GLAD TO LIVE in AMERICA!!!

Playing with your Wii Wii keeps you fit!

Last weekend I played Wii for the first time ever and after an hour my arm was hurting, my calves were cramping, and my forehead was getting sweaty… since when are video games are supposed to be tiring? Usually only my thumbs are sore the next day after a nice gaming session but not my legs, arms and back.

I felt hoaxed into thinking I was playing a video game when in fact I was working out. It reminded me of one time my mom told me to try a hot pepper with my food only to have me eat all my vegetables when my mouth was on fire, what, didn’t you mom ever do that? Well then take notes for Mexican parenting 101.

So apparently there’s a lot of enthusiasts of this masochist gaming experience so I researched a little about it and found out that Wii is coming up with a line of games designed for fitness, so this might be something worth to follow up closely and try it, changes the whole concept of working out every day!

There’s a lot people who are already disciples of the Wii fitness program or the Wii Diet, but I anticipate the deception will increase even more when they release Wii Fit in the US next month where you can do from Yoga to balancing exercises. Also I found out that a Wii Exercise is in the works which will further develop the fitness experience. Check out the video preview, playing with your Wii Wii is now fun and healthy!

Alternatives to Mayonnaise

Wassup Gente,
I found about these products to substitute mayonnaise and I thought of sharing since the point of this project is not necessarily to starve to death doing diets but rather look for healthier choices. We all need the secret ingredient for our sandwiches and salads, this could be a nice substitute.

From what I have gathered:

Nayonaise is the healthier choice of the two but not as close in flavor to real mayonnaise, Nayonaise is to Miracle Whip as Veganaise is to real mayonnaise. Nayonaise is 100% Vegan, cholesterol free, glutten free.

Veganaise is just a vegan substitute to mayonnaise, reviews I read online are really positive about the Grape Seed Oil product. Veganaise is dairy free, egg free, and has no cholesterol and 20% less fat than regular mayo.

I don’t know if this is old news for everyone but I never heard of this products before, so I will look into it and see if they are still good in taste.

Laters Gente,
Izra

For those who like to count numbers here’s a basic comparison:

Nayonaise—-Veganaise
35 calories—-–90 calories
30 from fat—– 80 from fat
0.5 g sat fat—–1 g sat fat
0 g Trans fat
0mg Cholest—-0mg Cholest
115 mg sodium-80 mg sodium
1g total carb—-1g total carb

A little something I found about Organic Food

Wassup gente, here’s a little something I found about organic food which caught my attention. I am trying to educate myself about organic food since the only organic products I ever consume are the chiles my mom grows in the backyard, and being the skeptic that I am, I always want to find out the other side of the coin.

I found a fella blogger bringing up some interesting issues regarding USDA’s National Organic Program allowing chemical, synthetic and non-synthetic substances in organic products. They setup a standard or criteria to follow but not sure how they actually enforce it.

I don’t necessarily agree with all her statements but her post is very informative and has plenty of links for further research, but the thought of having the USDA create a branch to standardize and commercialize organic products can be a bit alarming if in fact they are still containing all kind of chemicals and non-organic substances.

Check the list of substances allowed: http://www.ams.usda.gov/nop/NOP/standards/ListReg.html

Check out the blog and tell me what you think:
